This well-known Bavarian small town is best discovered on a casual stroll: walk for a bit along the river Isar with the Golgotha in full view, then past the spa house into the market road. You can marvel at the beautiful houses whilst taking a break in one of the numerous pavement cafés
After a short train journey to Lenggries, you continue along the long-distance walking trail Via Alpina to the Aueralm via the Hirschtal-col below the steep rocks of Mount Fockenstein. Enjoy a descent break with Bavarian Alpine delicacies before you continue through forests and across meadows with a wonderful long-distance view down onto Lake Tegernsee and descend to Bad Wiessee.
Walk along altitude paths with amazing views, to the mountain inn Galaun, then onwards to the little mountain chapel on the rock formation of Mount Riederstein, from where you have a magnificent view down to the lake and onto the surrounding mountains. Once back on the lake the Tegernsee brewery inn invites to a cool beverage, before you return with the Tegernsee-ship to Bad Wiessee.
From Tegernsee you soon reach alpine pastures via a steep forest trail surrounding the well-known Alpine beer garden Neureuth. After a break with lovely views onto the lake you casually continue your tour to the Gindelalm alp and then you descend along forest paths and forest roads to Lake Schliersees and after the marina you reach the pretty and neat spa park situated directly at the lakeside of Lake Schliersee.
Along the lakeside-adventure-path you get to Fischhausen. Then along the path ‚Bockerlbahnweg’ with numerous info points via the former forest railway, you first walk to the cool ‚Spitzingsattel’ and then onwards to the picturesque Lake Spitzingsee. Walk round this nature idyll before you take a break in the historic challet ‚Wurzhütte’ and then return by bus to Schliersee.
A light and airy cable car ride takes you to the summit station on Mount Taubenstein. Then you walk on a high-altitude path with brilliant views to the Rotwandhaus, where you have the opportunity to climb to the peak of the Rotwand if you fancy. Onwards via the picturesque cirque ‚Großtiefentaler Kessel’ to Lake Soinsee with its idyllic location, then along alpine pastures and flowering meadows to Bayrischzell.
The King-Maximilian-path leads you past a waterfall to the Wendelstein-Alp. From there you walk all the way to the summit with its impressive meteorological observatory and along the panorama-loop-path to the Wendelstein cave with its accessible underground tunnels. After a snack in the panorama-beer garden, you take the cable car back into the valley and casually walk back to Bayrischzell.

We require a 20% deposit to start booking all the individual elements of your trip, which is payable over the phone or online (the full balance is due 6 weeks prior to departure, so if you book less than 6 weeks in advance your deposit will be the full tour cost). Every trip is tailor made just for you, so we confirm availability individually and book all your accommodation and options, then send you final confirmation as soon as everything is confirmed (usually max 5 working days).
It really depends on the trip. We offer quite a variety of holiday grades to help you select the right level of activity. Always be honest with yourself about your abilities, and always do some training in the run up to your trip. You'd be surprised at what you can achieve, especially going at your own pace on one of our independent adventures. Your specialist is the best person to ask for advice on a specific trip. The active kind of holiday offers rewards like no other.
Many of our trips come with baggage transfer included (some have optional baggage transfer, and on very few remote trips baggage transfer is unavailable, but do check the exact tour inclusions). You will drop overnight bags (one per person) by an allotted time each morning in a designated area in your hotel or B&B. This leaves you free to walk unencumbered, with only your day pack of essentials. Your baggage will be transferred to your next night's accommodation, and will usually arrive before you do!
